At the 2025 Global Digital Transformation Conference, two leading technologies jointly developed by China Mobile and Huawei stood out, and won the “Excellence Award” and the “Pioneer Project Award” in the self-intelligent network field of the Telecom Management Forum. This honor is not only an affirmation of China Mobile and Huawei’s innovation capabilities, but also marks a key breakthrough in self-intelligent network technology from theoretical research to practical application.
Although the concept of self-intelligence networks has a long history, it faces great challenges in turning them from imagination to reality. Traditional network operation and maintenance models often rely on manual operations, are inefficient and expensive, making it difficult to adapt to increasingly complex and dynamic network environments. Faced with this industry pain point, the solution proposed by China Mobile is aiming to completely revolutionize the traditional “fire-fighting” operation and maintenance model.
The end-to-end self-intelligent network operation and maintenance center (Dark NOC) solution won by China Mobile this time focuses on “high-value scenario automation” and greatly improves operation and maintenance efficiency through intelligent means. Assume that when a network fails, the system no longer only presents cold code, but can provide personalized troubleshooting suggestions based on the role and needs of the operation and maintenance personnel, and even simulate the optimal operation path. When faced with customer complaints or network congestion, the system can automatically adjust the base station parameters, accurately locate the fault points, and present the “cause” of the fault in an intuitive and visual way, so that operation and maintenance personnel can clearly understand the problem.
The innovation of Dark NOC solution lies in transforming traditional operation and maintenance methods into intelligent operation and maintenance methods, while another award-winning technology, AN L4 high-value fault operation and maintenance scenario solution, focuses more on innovation in the technical architecture. This solution innovatively constructs a three-layer architecture of “intelligent network element + smart base Agent + smart OSS Agent”, realizing seamless connection between devices, middleware and management systems, thereby greatly improving operation and maintenance efficiency. This not only optimizes resource allocation, but also reduces potential operation and maintenance risks.
In the actual application of Guangdong Mobile, the AN L4 solution has shown significant results: the total work orders have been significantly reduced by 42%, the troubleshooting time has been shortened by 33%, 90% of faults have been automatically diagnosed, and the average repair time (MTTR) has been reduced by more than 20%. More importantly, except for the operation of physical sites, the other processes have achieved end-to-end automation, which has led to the self-intelligent network level jumping from L3.2 to L4, which represents a fundamental change in the network failure handling mode from “passive response” to “active prevention”. This kind of active operation and maintenance can ensure the stable operation of the network to the greatest extent and improve user experience.
China Mobile has set an industry model in terms of “reducing costs and increasing efficiency” through the application of self-intelligent network technology. With the continuous increase in the number of 5G base stations, operation and maintenance costs are also continuing to rise. At the same time, users’ requirements for network quality are becoming increasingly high. Through the deployment of self-intelligent network technology, China Mobile not only greatly improves operation and maintenance efficiency, but also invests the released human resources into high-value businesses, such as customizing network slicing for enterprises and developing industry AI solutions. From “selling bandwidth” to “selling services”, China Mobile’s transformation has provided important reference for other operators.
It is worth noting that China Mobile is still actively planning a new era of AI+ digitalization. As a key force in providing large computing power, big data and big models, China Mobile has built 13 smart computing nodes across the country, providing computing power support up to 43EFLOPS. Through the Jiutian MaaS platform, China Mobile has integrated more than 300 industry models and built an AI capability base covering the industrial Internet and other fields. At the same time, as the “operator” who promotes the large-scale application of AI, China Mobile has implemented more than 1,000 AI+DICT solutions in key industries such as energy and government affairs. Among them, benchmark projects such as “Nine-day·Haid Accounting Government Affairs Big Model” are leading the improvement of the industry’s intelligence level. Through these initiatives, China Mobile is building a smarter, more efficient and secure digital ecosystem.
In short, China Mobile is gradually reshaping the industry’s value coordinate system with its own intelligence network as its starting point and computing power network as its fulcrum. It is opening up a new paradigm for digital and intelligent transformation. In this change, China Mobile has demonstrated with practical actions that the competition law in the digital age always favors leaders and pioneers who dare to innovate and explore. Through continuous technological innovation and application practice, China Mobile is contributing to the progress and development of the industry.
