According to media outlet Automaton, financial data disclosed in the official gazette of Japan on July 23rd reveals a remarkable growth for FromSoftware in the fiscal year 2024-2025 (April 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025).
The company achieved total revenue of 23.497 billion Japanese Yen (approximately $160 million USD), marking a 51.5% year-on-year increase. Operating profit stood at 10.077 billion Japanese Yen (approximately $68 million USD), up by 53.5% year-on-year. Net profit reached 6.618 billion Japanese Yen (approximately $45 million USD), an impressive 66.1% increase compared to the previous fiscal year.
FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa Corporation, indicated that this outstanding performance is primarily attributed to the continued global success of “Elden Ring” and its latest DLC, “Shadow of the Erdtree.” The enduring popularity of “Elden Ring,” launched in February 2022, has clearly demonstrated its long-term commercial viability, a testament to FromSoftware’s ability to create critically acclaimed and commercially successful titles. The addition of “Shadow of the Erdtree” has evidently reignited interest and driven further sales, both for the DLC itself and potentially for the base game through bundled offers or renewed player engagement.
It is important to note that the latest title launched in May this year, “Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree,” its performance is not yet included in this financial report. This means that the full impact of the DLC’s sales might be even more pronounced in subsequent financial reporting periods, especially as it continues to be actively marketed and played.
Looking ahead, FromSoftware is set to release “The Duskbloods,” a multiplayer online action RPG exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2 platform. This move suggests a strategic partnership with Nintendo and an intention to tap into the burgeoning market for portable gaming experiences, potentially leveraging the anticipated capabilities of the next-generation Nintendo console.
Furthermore, there are unconfirmed reports circulating that the studio has another multi-platform project in its “late development stage,” with a potential release slated for next year. This bodes well for fans awaiting new IPs or sequels from FromSoftware, hinting at a robust pipeline of upcoming titles that could further solidify their position in the gaming industry.
