On July 25, according to Kuaitech, Alibaba announced that its first self-developed flagship AI glasses will be unveiled on the afternoon of July 26 at the Artificial Intelligence Terminal Industry Development Forum, joining the “battle of a hundred glasses.”
According to media reports, Alibaba’s AI glasses will offer two versions: one without a display and another with a display, referred to as AI+AR smart glasses. The version with a display is prioritized, and it is expected to adopt a dual-chip architecture, equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 and Hengxuan BES2800 chips. The development of these glasses was a collaborative effort between the Tmall Genie hardware team and the Quark AI research and development team.
Sources indicate that the smart glasses will support a comprehensive range of functions, including voice assistant capabilities, music playback, phone calls, real-time translation, and meeting minute-taking. Furthermore, they will be integrated with Alibaba’s ecosystem, offering features such as map navigation, payment services, and shopping functionalities.
The trend of AI-powered devices is rapidly evolving, with AI phones, AI computers, and AI glasses becoming the new “trendy trifecta” for young consumers. This growing consumer interest reflects a broader shift towards integrating artificial intelligence into everyday wearable technology.
According to CCTV Finance, data from e-commerce platforms reveals a surge in the smart glasses market in the first half of this year. Transaction volume for smart glasses increased tenfold year-on-year, and the number of brands entering the market grew by over threefold compared to the previous year. This remarkable growth is attributed to increased consumer adoption and market expansion.
Moreover, with national subsidies and industry-wide collaboration, the accessibility of these advanced devices is improving. The average price of smart glasses has seen a notable decrease, dropping from over 2,000 yuan to around 1,500 yuan. This price adjustment makes smart glasses a more attainable technology for a wider consumer base, further fueling market growth and innovation.
