According to reports from July 30th, Xiaomi’s air conditioner sales continue to experience significant growth online, intensifying pressure on traditional home appliance manufacturers like Gree and Midea.
Data revealed by an industry blogger indicates that Xiaomi’s air conditioners secured the third position in online sales for the second quarter, capturing a market share of 16.2%.
Analyzing monthly performance, Xiaomi’s online market share for air conditioners stood at 14.25% in April, rose to 17% in May, and settled at 16.5% in June.
In contrast, Midea’s market share during the same three months was 23.45%, 22.92%, and 22.18%, respectively. Gree’s figures were 18.56%, 17.16%, and 17.27%.
Industry experts suggest that while Xiaomi’s online sales are impressive, surpassing Midea and Gree in the overall market remains a challenge in the short term. This is largely attributed to the established brand reputation and deep-rooted consumer perception built over years by traditional players like Midea and Gree, which often sway purchasing decisions.
As a crucial component of the Xiaomi ecosystem, Xiaomi’s air conditioners have solidified their position among the top three online. However, the competitive landscape remains intense.
In April of this year, Lu Weibing, a Xiaomi executive, stated that Xiaomi aims to become one of the top two players in the Chinese air conditioner market by 2030, with a focus on global benchmarks.
