As of August 3rd, Shandong Airlines has officially unveiled its new flight attendant uniform, named “Qing Wei Liao” (青未了). The overall style is fresh and elegant, marking a significant shift with the adoption of flat-soled shoes replacing high heels, and trousers or knee-length skirts taking the place of short skirts.
The traditional attire for flight attendants, commonly featuring high heels and short skirts, is gradually becoming a relic of the past. This change not only enhances the comfort of the cabin crew but has also garnered widespread praise from netizens and passengers alike. Historically, despite air travel becoming a common mode of transportation, many airlines maintained stringent requirements for flight attendant uniforms, with high heels, short skirts, and stockings forming a standard “trio” that could be seen as a “beautiful constraint.”
Shandong Airlines’ new flight attendant uniform prioritizes the practical needs and comfort of the crew. Female attendants can now choose between dresses and trousers based on their preference. The skirts are designed to be knee-length, balancing practicality with aesthetics. Furthermore, high heels have been replaced by comfortable flat-soled shoes.
This evolution in uniform design signifies a commitment to both maintaining elegance and fostering a more comfortable and empathetic service experience, thereby granting flight attendants greater respect and autonomy.
This initiative by Shandong Airlines is a vivid embodiment of their people-centric philosophy, enabling every cabin crew member to fly with composure and ease while soaring through the skies.
Shandong Airlines’ new uniforms are scheduled to be phased in starting in September, and there is anticipation that more airlines will follow suit.
