August 24th, 2025 — PNY has unveiled two specially designed graphics cards at Gamescom to commemorate its 40th anniversary: the RTX 5080 ARGB OC Chrome and the RTX 5090 ARGB OC Chrome.
Since its establishment in 1985, PNY has evolved from a company facilitating memory module transport between Paris and New York to a valued manufacturing partner of NVIDIA. Its product lineup has since expanded to encompass a diverse range of components, including solid-state drives and memory modules.
These two graphics cards feature exceptionally eye-catching polished chrome shells complemented by ARGB lighting effects. The chrome exterior shimmers under the light, presenting an aesthetic akin to a piece of art. This design choice is particularly significant in the enthusiast PC market, where visual appeal often plays a crucial role in consumer preference, especially for limited edition or anniversary products.
However, these special edition graphics cards are primarily intended as display pieces to celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary and will not be available for retail sale at this time. This suggests that these are more about brand building and showcasing design capabilities rather than mass-market products, following a common practice for anniversary editions from tech companies.
The RTX 5080 ARGB OC Chrome variant is equipped with 10752 CUDA cores and 16GB of VRAM. It operates at a base frequency of 2775MHz and features a three-slot cooling design, with a Thermal Design Power (TDP) of 360W. These specifications place it firmly in the high-end gaming and professional workstation segment.
The more powerful RTX 5090 ARGB OC Chrome variant boasts 21760 CUDA cores and 32GB of VRAM, with a base frequency set at 2625MHz. It utilizes a 3.5-slot cooling solution and has a substantial TDP of 600W. This configuration highlights its positioning at the absolute pinnacle of consumer graphics performance, suitable for the most demanding tasks and future-proofing for complex applications.
