Screen burn-in has always been one of the biggest concerns for OLED display users.
According to pcgamer, during Gamescom, MSI showcased an OLED monitor and claimed that it had been running continuously for 533 days, 7 hours, and 22 minutes with virtually no screen burn-in issues.

In an interview, MSI highlighted the display’s OLED Care 2.0 technology, which includes features like color protection and pixel shifting. A representative stated, “Screen burn-in is no longer a real issue. This display is not a new unit, but rather a monitor that has been in use for three years. We specifically conducted burn-in tests, and the results showed almost no impact.”
This demo unit features an integrated OLED Care menu that displays the panel’s operating information in real-time and clearly shows its continuous 533-day operation. MSI further explained that the monitor utilizes pixel shifting to prevent static image burn-in, and a static image detection feature automatically adjusts brightness when the screen remains unchanged for extended periods, thereby mitigating risks.
When questioned about the testing environment, MSI stated that the monitor was operating in a split-screen configuration, with the taskbar, webpage tabs, and static images persistently present. For average users, the company advises that by adhering to the default OLED Care settings, they are unlikely to encounter screen burn-in problems.

Additionally, MSI revealed that their next generation of displays will be upgraded to OLED Care 3.0. This new version will incorporate a CMOS facial detection sensor that automatically triggers screen refreshes when the user leaves their seat, thus more frequently maintaining the health of the screen. Unlike ordinary proximity sensors, it will not be falsely triggered by movement in the room.
