Fast Technology, August 31st. The Windows 11 25H2 version is set to officially launch in late 2025. Microsoft had previously confirmed that this version would be released in 2025, and the operating system has now entered its final testing phase before release.
Microsoft has recently invited internal testers in the Release Preview channel to test the Windows 11 25H2 Build 26200.5074 preview update.
According to Microsoft, users can access this update by navigating to Settings > Windows Update and manually clicking “Check for updates.” Windows 11 will then display a banner indicating that version 25H2 is available, allowing users to click “Download and install” to proceed.
In contrast to Windows 11 24H2, the 25H2 update is being delivered as an enablement package and shares the same update branch. This alignment means that both operating systems will receive identical feature updates, indicating a consolidation of development efforts.
The 25H2 release will also see the removal of certain components, such as PowerShell 2.0, which is no longer supported. Additionally, Microsoft has deprecated the Windows Management Instrumentation Command-line. Furthermore, Microsoft is empowering IT administrators to uninstall a broader range of pre-installed applications on enterprise and educational devices through Group Policy/MDM CSP policies, offering greater customization and control.
Beyond its availability to general users in the Release Preview channel, Microsoft has also extended this update to commercial users. Enterprises can commence testing the upcoming update through Windows Update for Business (WUfB) and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), facilitating a smoother integration and deployment process for organizations.
