According to a report from KuaiTech on September 28th, ASRock has recently released a new version 3.50 BIOS update for its AM5 motherboards. This update is available for X870, B850, and B650 series motherboards, and also includes a newly released A620 model.
According to the release notes, the new BIOS upgrades the AGESA to version ComboAM5 1.2.0.3g. Unfortunately, ASRock has not provided further detailed information regarding the specific improvements or changes introduced with this AGESA version.
In late August, ASRock released version 3.40 BIOS updates for its AM5 motherboards, which were intended to address the widely reported issue of premature CPU degradation, often referred to as “CPU early death.”
However, based on user feedback, the problem appears to persist, with some users, particularly those with 9000X3D series processors, still reporting issues. This suggests that while progress has been made, a complete resolution may still be pending or that the issue is more complex than initially anticipated.
A significant challenge ASRock seems to be facing is not a lack of effort in resolving these critical issues, but rather a deficiency in transparent communication. The company has not issued any official statements, roadmaps, or proactively contacted customers to inform them of potential risks or the status of fixes. This lack of proactive engagement can lead to user frustration and a general decline in confidence regarding the stability and longevity of their AM5 platform.
