On October 19th, according to CCTV News, on the 17th, two United Airlines passenger planes had a ground collision at Chicago O’Hare International Airport in Illinois, USA. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the incident.
Officials from United Airlines stated that Flight 2652, en route from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to O’Hare International Airport, made contact with the horizontal stabilizer of another parked United Airlines aircraft while taxiing to its arrival gate on Friday afternoon.
One of the aircraft was carrying 113 passengers and 5 crew members, while the other aircraft had no passengers on board. Fortunately, no one was harmed.
It is noteworthy that the United States has recently experienced a series of aviation accidents and near misses, with three crashes occurring within a three-day period.
Earlier this month, two Delta Air Lines jets collided at the intersection of taxiways at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, resulting in one flight attendant being injured.
Furthermore, the U.S. federal government shutdown has been ongoing for half a month. Air traffic controllers are currently working without pay, and the volume of sick leave absences is gradually increasing, exacerbating the issue of vacant positions within the air traffic control system.
Reports suggest that the shortage of air traffic controllers in the U.S. has led to thousands of flight delays across the country, placing increasing pressure and risk on the operational integrity of the American aviation system.
