According to media reports on November 2nd, game developer Krafton has announced the integration of NVIDIA ACE technology into “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” (PUBG), introducing an AI companion system named “PUBG Ally.”
This system will allow players to have an AI teammate that can follow commands, search for equipment, and engage in real-time communication. An initial testing phase is planned for early 2026.
The AI companion is designed to understand both text and voice commands. It will also be able to interpret the in-game environment in real-time, identifying enemies, spotting items, and reacting to the evolving battlefield situation.
Furthermore, the AI will automatically manage loot distribution, operate vehicles, and participate in combat, largely reducing the need for continuous player commands. This represents a significant step towards more autonomous and intelligent in-game entities.

PUBG is not the only game where Krafton is leveraging ACE technology; the company is adopting an “AI-first” strategy across its portfolio, aiming to implement AI technologies in all its titles to enhance development efficiency and accelerate creative output. This broad adoption suggests a strategic commitment to AI integration for future game development.
NVIDIA unveiled its NVIDIA ACE (Avatar Cloud Engine) technology at CES 2024. ACE enables developers to incorporate advanced AI models, such as A2F and RIVA ASR, into their virtual character solutions for games and applications.
Through RIVA ASR, players will be able to engage in real-time conversations with AI characters using their microphones, fostering a more immersive experience and enabling dynamic dialogue interactions. This technology promises to bridge the gap between player input and AI response, creating more organic gameplay moments.
The A2F model, on the other hand, can generate real-time facial expressions and lip-syncing solely from audio input. It can also be utilized for offline creation of facial animations. This capability can lead to more lifelike and emotionally resonant non-playable characters (NPCs).
