According to reports from July 2nd, new developments have emerged in the highly anticipated “Hebei Boy Cycling Death Case.” Following a decision in April to not prosecute, the involved driver, Jiang Yongliang, was reportedly planning to sue Gaode Maps.
However, following widespread online discussion and related reports, a TikTok account identified as “Jiang Yongliang” released a video denying these claims.
Jiang Yongliang stated, “Hello everyone, I am driver Jiang Yongliang. I am clarifying the false information circulating online about me suing Gaode Maps. This incident is now in the past, and I wish to return to a normal life. I urge everyone to view this matter rationally.”
Subsequently, the official Weibo account of Gaode Maps issued a statement. “We have seen this news and are deeply saddened by the tragic accident that occurred last year. We have also noted that the driver involved has already posted a video on a short video platform stating that the information is untrue and that he has never had any intention of suing Gaode.”
Gaode Maps further emphasized that, in accordance with China’s “Road Traffic Safety Law,” motor vehicle drivers are obligated to comply with traffic safety laws and regulations, drive safely, and drive courteously. Navigation products are provided for users’ travel reference only. Given the complexity and variability of real-world environments, drivers are reminded to prioritize actual traffic and road conditions and strictly adhere to traffic laws and regulations.
It is important to note that the video in which Jiang Yongliang denied suing Gaode Maps is currently unavailable for viewing.
