Xiaomi’s SU7 vehicle is equipped with 16 magnetic mounting points throughout the interior. For instance, a dedicated magnetic spot is available behind the central control screen, specifically designed for holding a tissue box.
The accompanying Xiaomi Life Car Magnetic Tissue Box is now available on the Xiaomi Car App Mall, priced at 169 yuan.
During a livestream last night, Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO, addressed the pricing of the magnetic tissue box. He acknowledged that netizens found the price to be high and stated that he had investigated the reasons behind it with his team.
Lei Jun explained that the design process for the tissue box involved complex materials and manufacturing techniques. Initially, it failed to pass automotive-grade testing. Subsequent revisions to the materials and adhesives significantly increased production costs.
“Many people might not realize this, but the location where it’s placed can reach temperatures of 90℃ in Turpan. A typical plastic box would likely melt under such conditions,” Lei Jun remarked. He added, “However, I still feel that a tissue box priced over 100 yuan is expensive, and I am pushing my colleagues to reduce costs.”
Xiaomi’s official Weibo account, in its 167th Q&A session with netizens, highlighted that the Xiaomi Life Car Magnetic Tissue Box is not only suitable for car use but also versatile for magnetic surfaces such as refrigerators or desks with magnetic capabilities.
The company stated that the Xiaomi Life Car Magnetic Tissue Box is specifically designed for automotive environments. Both its plastic components and the 14 internal magnets are made from materials that can withstand extreme temperature fluctuations, from over 95℃ in scorching summer sun on the dashboard to severe winter conditions as low as -30℃, without deforming or losing their magnetic properties.
The magnetic tissue box features a dual-layer construction, with the magnets concealed internally for a clean appearance. The outer layer is covered with high-temperature resistant PU leather, meticulously hand-stitched, while the inner layer utilizes soft, ultra-fine fiber material. This design ensures safety, reliability, and a premium feel and texture.
Notably, the Xiaomi SU7 also marks the first time that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile processor has been integrated into a vehicle’s infotainment system.

Supply chain sources indicate that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip used in the Xiaomi SU7 has undergone automotive-grade manufacturing processes and certification (with improved automotive-grade packaging processes) to guarantee safety and reliability. Although Qualcomm’s platform was originally designed for consumer products, it has been adapted to meet automotive safety standards through these rigorous adjustments.
Xiaomi officially states that the SU7’s vehicle infotainment core board has passed AEC-Q104 automotive-grade testing. This certification involves durability tests that are more than twice the industry standard and cover over 17 types of environmental conditions and 280 test scenarios, verifying an equivalent usage period of over 10 years.
