The 12th World Congress of High-Speed Rail was recently held in Beijing, China. Following the conclusion of the congress, an experience event for the Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-Speed Railway commenced.
Over 270 participants, including government officials, diplomatic envoys, corporate executives, academics, and media representatives from the International Union of Railways (UIC) and more than 20 countries, regions, and international organizations, had the opportunity to experience a “ground-hugging flight” at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. For many of these attendees, this marked their first visit to China and their inaugural experience on Chinese high-speed rail.
Hudson Taivo, a civil engineer from the UK, stated that his primary interest at the World Congress of High-Speed Rail was in the field of infrastructure. He commented, “Taizicheng Station is beautiful, like an airport! This trip has allowed me to actively engage with my Chinese colleagues and learn about how China constructs stations and bridges across diverse geological terrains.” His interest highlights the global recognition of China’s advancements in railway engineering and construction, particularly in challenging environments.
Fatima Zohra Elouerkhaoui from Morocco expressed great satisfaction with her trip to the World Congress of High-Speed Rail. “Your high-speed rail technology is very advanced, and your people are very kind. Of course, your cuisine has also left me wanting more!” she shared. She was accompanied by over 20 individuals, all keen to learn about China’s high-speed rail technology. This sentiment underscores the appeal of China’s high-speed rail not only for its technological prowess but also for the cultural experiences it offers, fostering international exchange and learning.
Antonella Genoese from Italy, who had visited Xi’an with her sister a decade ago, was visibly impressed by the progress. “Coming here this time and witnessing the development of China’s high-speed rail over the past ten years is simply astonishing,” she said. She added that she plans to bring her daughter to experience Chinese high-speed rail on their next visit. Her observation of tangible progress over a decade provides a powerful testament to the rapid evolution and expansion of China’s high-speed rail network, showcasing its increasing importance on the global stage.
Ali Abdollahi from Iran highly praised the service quality of China’s high-speed rail. “Everything is so comfortable, and the carriages are exceptionally clean and tidy. I believe China possesses the most advanced high-speed rail system in the world; it is truly commendable!” His assessment reflects a common observation among international visitors, acknowledging not just the speed but also the overall passenger experience and the sophisticated operational standards of China’s high-speed rail network.
