Infiniti has indeed not exited the Chinese market. The new QX50 has been launched, offering three models with prices ranging from 350,800 to 391,800 yuan.
As Nissan’s premium brand, Infiniti’s position in China is starkly different from that of Lexus, another Japanese luxury marque. Last year, there were rumors that Infiniti might follow Acura and withdraw from the Chinese market, which were subsequently denied.
The newly launched QX50 features a refreshed design language. It is equipped with a “wave-pattern” front grille and a “seashell-shaped” hood. The vehicle also sports all-LED automatic headlights and “star-matrix” headlights with intelligent high-beam assist (HBA).
A distinctive design element on the side profile is the crescent-shaped D-pillar, which adds a sharp and dynamic flair. The taillights retain the traditional split design rather than adopting the currently popular贯穿 (through-type) style. The rear also features a dual-exhaust system.
The interior remains largely unchanged, essentially carrying over the current design. The center console features a dual-screen layout, and it is equipped with a compact electronic gear shifter. Additionally, the cabin includes a three-spoke steering wheel and silver trim that encircles the door panels and center console.
In terms of configuration, the base model comes standard with a driver’s knee airbag, rearview camera, cruise control, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, active noise cancellation, a single-disc DVD player, keyless entry for the front seats, and an electric tailgate.
The mid-trim level adds a 360-degree camera, a hands-free smart liftgate, leather seats, a 17-speaker Bose audio system, electrically folding exterior mirrors, and tri-zone climate control.
The top-trim variant further enhances the package with L2 level driver-assistance systems, remote start, heated front seats, adaptive high/low beam headlights, and rain-sensing wipers.
Under the hood, the new QX50 is powered by a 2.0T turbocharged engine with variable compression ratio. It delivers a maximum output of 192 kW and a peak torque of 380 Nm, paired with a CVT continuously variable transmission. An all-wheel-drive system is available on higher trims.
