On July 18th, a significant development in the domestic computing landscape was announced: the official debut of the new generation of Hygon C86 processors powering mobile and regular workstations. This launch saw over ten major manufacturers, including Lenovo Kaitian, Ziguang Computer, Ruansun Huafang (Tsinghua Tongfang), and ZTE, unveil dozens of new C86 terminal products. These offerings span a wide range of applications, from general office use to specialized fields like scientific research, engineering, and design. This move signifies a strategic shift for domestic terminals, transitioning from critical industry substitutions to comprehensive saturation across all market segments.
Ziguang Computer officially announced the release of the UltiStation 800H, a high-performance workstation equipped with the new generation Hygon C86 processor. This new iteration boasts a substantial performance leap, with single-core performance increased by 43% and multi-core performance by 68% compared to its predecessor. This translates into a significant improvement in handling complex tasks, a crucial factor for demanding professional applications.
From a security perspective, the Hygon C86 processor fully integrates the C86 Secure Computing Architecture (CSCA). This robust security framework incorporates eleven key security technologies, including secure key management, secure processor integration, secure boot, secure storage, dynamic measurement protection, memory encryption, confidential computing, cryptographic computing, support for trusted computing standards, and comprehensive chip-level security protection. This multi-layered approach aims to provide a highly secure computing environment.
The UltiStation 800H motherboard is outfitted with four DDR5 UDIMM memory slots, supporting up to dual-channel 128GB of DDR5-5600 high-speed memory as a standard configuration. For storage, it features two M.2 NVMe SSD slots, with one supporting PCIe 5.0, and a standard single-drive capacity of up to 2TB. Additionally, it includes four SATA interfaces, allowing for expansion with up to four mechanical hard drives, each with a maximum capacity of 16TB. The system also supports optional front-accessible hot-swappable drive kits, enhancing usability and maintenance flexibility.
Furthermore, the UltiStation 800H has been optimized for specialized scenarios such as image processing and AI acceleration. It supports domestic professional graphics cards from Moore Threads, delivering leading domestic graphics computing capabilities while ensuring broad compatibility with mainstream applications for a smooth transition for clients. The workstation also supports high-performance discrete NPU compute cards, catering to the demand for efficient local AI training and inference.
In terms of expansion interfaces, the UltiStation 800H comes standard with ten USB ports, including a front-panel USB-C port that supports 5V/3A shutdown charging. It is equipped with two PCIe x16 slots, one of which supports PCIe 5.0. The standard configuration includes Gigabit adaptive network ports, with optional Wi-Fi 6 support for wireless connectivity. The system also offers flexibility with support for parallel ports, multiple serial ports, and multiple network ports, accommodating diverse connectivity needs.
The UltiStation 800H also incorporates user-friendly features such as a Chinese BIOS interface, port management capabilities, intelligent USB port management, hard drive password protection, and secure hard drive data erasure functions. These additions are designed to enhance the overall user experience and data security.
The product manager for the UltiStation 800H highlighted that as terminal substitution deepens, the domestic market’s drive for localization is evolving from policy-led to market-led. This shift signifies an intensification of efforts to achieve full-scenario adoption of terminal products across various industries. The new generation of Hygon processors is poised to play a crucial role in this transition.
Leveraging the broad application compatibility of the C86 processor, this workstation is inherently adapted to the mainstream software ecosystem. This means that migration and deployment can be achieved without sacrificing efficiency or performance. It is capable of supporting a wide array of professional tool requirements, including various CAx engineering software, EDA, BIM, and 3D design applications, ensuring robust application capabilities for end-users.
The UltiStation 800H high-performance workstation is scheduled to be available in the near future.
