On August 12th, according to Fast Technology, Xiaomi Group’s founder, chairman, and CEO, Lei Jun, initiated a poll regarding whether to change the version name of the Xiaomi SU7 Standard Edition, which has attracted considerable attention.
As of the author’s current testing, voting data indicates that over 12,000 users lean towards a more understated approach, supporting the retention of the “Standard Edition” name without modification.
Concurrently, over five thousand netizens expressed a desire to align with competitors by directly naming it the “Pro” or “Max” version.
During the poll discussions, users supporting the unchanged name shared the perspective that a good product speaks for itself.
Conversely, users who favored a name change expressed their hope that adjustments to the naming convention could better promote industry development.
It is worth noting that the poll is scheduled to conclude in another 11 hours as of the time of this report.
The origin of this poll, as understood, stems from a significant number of netizens holding a misconception about the Xiaomi SU7 Standard Edition, erroneously assuming it to be an entry-level or “base” model.
Lei Jun stated that the Xiaomi SU7 Standard Edition is, in fact, equipped with quite robust specifications. It boasts a cruising range of 835 kilometers, the Thor chip with 700 Tops of computing power, and advanced configurations like LiDAR. Its performance is said to be on par with the Pro and Max versions of its competitors.
Additionally, the Xiaomi SU7 is the second mass-produced vehicle under the Xiaomi Auto brand. The new car is offered in three configurations: Standard Edition, Pro Edition, and Max Edition. The SU7 Standard Edition is priced at 253,500 RMB, the Pro Edition at 279,900 RMB, and the Max Edition at 329,900 RMB.
