NIO has officially announced that the brand-new ES8 will make its debut on August 21st at 7:30 PM. Positioned as an all-scenario technology flagship SUV, this new model represents a significant evolution for NIO’s premium electric vehicle lineup.
NIO’s founder, chairman, and CEO, William Li, has already previewed the vehicle, revealing that it boasts substantial changes compared to the current model. Notably, it features a remarkably large front trunk, similar to the one found in the LHope L9, which is a welcome addition for practicality and storage.

Yu Dongming, the General Manager of NIO Anhui, has released a comprehensive overview of the new car, detailing its key selling points.
The new ES8 continues to adopt NIO’s third-generation design language, featuring new crystal-cut daytime running lights and a concealed waistline design, all contributing to an enhanced sense of refinement and sophistication across the vehicle’s exterior.
Claiming to be the longest and most spacious in its class, the new ES8 measures 5280*2010*1800mm with a wheelbase of 3130mm. This represents an increase of 181mm in length and 60mm in wheelbase compared to the previous generation. The vehicle will be available in both six- and seven-seater configurations, catering to diverse family and business needs.
Under the hood, the ES8 is equipped with NIO’s latest “AQUILA Super Sensing System,” which incorporates an impressive array of sensors, including three LiDAR units – a commanding “watchtower” style front-facing LiDAR, and dual-sided wide-view + 4D imaging radar units. This advanced sensor suite is foundational for the vehicle’s sophisticated autonomous driving capabilities.
Powering the new ES8 is the same advanced dual-motor all-wheel-drive system found in the ET9. This powertrain delivers a combined maximum output of 520kW. The front motor is an industry-leading 180kW induction asynchronous electric drive, renowned for its high power density. The rear motor is a groundbreaking 340kW permanent magnet synchronous electric drive utilizing a 925V continuous wave winding and silicon carbide technology, offering exceptional power density and system efficiency.
As standard, the ES8 will include a 100kWh ternary lithium battery from CATL, providing a CLTC range of up to 635km. A standout feature is the globally pioneering 900V ultra-fast charging and battery swapping platform. This system supports a peak charging power of 600kW and a peak charging current of 765A, enabling drivers to gain over 250km of range in just 5 minutes of charging. Furthermore, the battery swapping process is incredibly swift, taking less than 3 minutes to complete, which is a significant advantage for daily usability and long-distance travel.
