NIO Founder William Li recently stated that owners of range-extended electric vehicles (EREVs) will inevitably opt for a battery electric vehicle (BEV) for their next purchase.
During a live broadcast of his 318 self-driving tour, NIO founder Li Bin addressed a comment from an EREV owner who expressed a desire to “give Bin Ge an order.”
Li Bin remarked that EREV owners are well aware that after experiencing electric driving, their next vehicle will be a pure electric one.
This statement comes as NIO’s Sichuan-Tibet exchangeable battery route has officially opened, enabling more BEV owners to embark on their 318 adventures worry-free. Following their experience with the convenience of charging, some EREV owners have even expressed their commitment to “strive to give Bin Ge an order.”
The official completion of the NIO G318 Sichuan-Tibet exchangeable battery route yesterday marked another historic milestone, allowing NIO users to travel to Mount Everest with seamless battery swapping capabilities.
As of August 13th, NIO operates a total of 8,159 charging and battery swapping stations across China, including 3,449 battery swapping stations and 4,710 charging stations, solidifying its position as the industry leader in charging infrastructure development.
Li Bin’s assertion reflects a growing confidence within NIO regarding the user experience of its electric vehicles, particularly the convenience offered by its extensive battery swapping network. The transition from EREVs to BEVs is often driven by factors such as increasing charging infrastructure accessibility, growing environmental consciousness, and the desire for a more refined and emission-free driving experience. By successfully opening routes like the Sichuan-Tibet highway, NIO not only demonstrates the capability of its technology but also directly addresses range anxiety, a key concern for potential BEV adopters. This strategic expansion of infrastructure aims to accelerate the adoption of pure electric mobility by providing users with the assurance of seamless travel, even on challenging routes.
