On August 23rd, it was reported that the well-known blogger “He Tongxue,” also known as “Teacher, My Name is He Tongxue,” has garnered significant attention overseas. His account, HTX Studio, has attracted over one million subscribers.
There were reports estimating that the monthly income from He Tongxue’s overseas account ranges from $120,000 to $195,000 USD, which could translate to an annual income of $144,000 to $2.34 million USD (approximately 1.03 million to 16.76 million RMB).
In response to these reports, He Tongxue’s studio officially posted on Weibo stating, “The income from the overseas account is nowhere near as high as reported. Thank you for your attention.” This statement suggests that the circulated income figures may be an exaggeration or based on a different calculation methodology.
According to Tianyancha (a Chinese corporate information platform), He Tongxue (He Shijie) is associated with Hangzhou Jihe Digital Culture Creative Co., Ltd. This company, established in 2020 and based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, primarily operates within the software and information technology services industry, with a registered capital of 500,000 RMB.
The company’s business scope is extensive, encompassing the production of radio and television programs, electronic publications, and audio-visual products. It also extends to performance brokerage, online cultural operations, film distribution, information network dissemination of audio-visual programs, advertising production, photography and video production services, digital content production services (excluding publishing and distribution), graphic design and production, film and television shooting services, software development, advertising design and agency, artistic creation, and personal internet live broadcasting services.
The significant subscriber growth on He Tongxue’s international platform suggests a strong appeal to a global audience. This popularity can be attributed to several factors, likely including the quality of his content, his engaging presentation style, and potentially the universal nature of the topics he covers. The discrepancy between reported earnings and the studio’s official statement highlights the complexities of digital content creator monetization, which can vary greatly based on platform algorithms, ad revenue share, brand collaborations, and other revenue streams that may not be publicly disclosed or easily estimated.
