On the evening of last Saturday, Geely’s brand-new flagship SUV, the Galaxy M9, began pre-sales. It was launched with six configurations, with a pre-sale price range of RMB 193,800 to RMB 258,800. This marks the first time a full-size family new energy SUV has entered the sub-200,000 RMB market.
As anticipated, this large and affordably priced three-row SUV has experienced explosive demand. Official data reveals that the vehicle secured over 40,000 orders within 24 hours of its pre-sale launch.
The Galaxy M9 measures 5205/1999/1800mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 3030mm. In terms of size, it is directly competitive with other prominent full-size SUVs like the Li L9 and the AITO M9, yet its pricing is significantly more accessible. This aggressive pricing strategy seems to be a key factor in its immediate popularity, tapping into a market segment that desires spaciousness and advanced features without the premium cost typically associated with these offerings.
The exterior design is a typical representation of modern new energy vehicles, featuring a closed grille, an integrated light curtain, and sharp, robust body lines. Such an aesthetic is highly likely to resonate with consumers, creating strong initial appeal.
The interior is equipped with a full LCD instrument panel, a large integrated central control screen, and an entertainment screen for the front passenger. The second row boasts a 17.3-inch 3K ceiling-mounted screen, which is also a standard configuration in current mainstream family SUVs. The focus on multiple large screens and advanced entertainment options reflects the evolving expectations of consumers for connected and immersive in-car experiences.
The vehicle adopts a 2+2+2 six-seat layout. The seats are upholstered in perforated genuine leather. A large armrest box is located behind the central aisle. The second row features two independent aviation-style seats with a 180mm wide walkway between them. These seats are equipped with seamless leg rests and lumbar support, offering ventilation, heating, and 10-point massage functions. This luxurious second-row seating arrangement emphasizes comfort and a premium passenger experience, likely targeting families or individuals who prioritize executive-level comfort during travel.
The interior has an effective length of 3.7 meters and a height of 1.3 meters, providing an interior area of 5.2 square meters. In its six-seat configuration, the luggage compartment offers a volume of 328 liters. The second and third rows can be folded down to expand storage space, reaching a maximum capacity of 2171 liters. The generous interior volume and flexible cargo space are significant advantages for a family SUV, catering to various needs from daily commuting to longer road trips.
The new car is built on the GEA dedicated new energy vehicle architecture and is equipped with the new generation Thor EM super hybrid system. The 1.5T engine has a maximum power output of 120kW. It will also feature an 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive and the Shield battery safety system, among other three-electric technologies. The integration of an advanced hybrid system with a focus on efficiency and performance is a core selling point, aiming to alleviate range anxiety often associated with new energy vehicles.
The M9 offers two battery options: 18.4 kWh and 41.46 kWh. It boasts a class-leading maximum output power of 520kW. The 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 4.5 seconds, with a comprehensive range exceeding 1500 kilometers. Notably, it achieves a fuel consumption of just 4.8 L/100km in battery-depleted mode, and crucially, it does not experience power loss when the battery is depleted. These impressive figures for acceleration, range, and fuel efficiency in hybrid operation directly address key consumer concerns and position the Galaxy M9 as a highly competitive offering in the market.
