The latest round of domestic refined oil price adjustments is set to take effect at midnight tonight, marking the seventh price decrease of the year for gasoline and diesel. As of the market close on August 22nd, the reference crude oil price had a variation of -4.41% over the ninth working day. This is anticipated to result in a reduction of approximately 190 yuan per ton for both gasoline and diesel. Consequently, the price per liter is expected to decrease by about 0.15 yuan for 92-octane gasoline and 0.16 yuan for 0-octane diesel. For a typical private car with a 50-liter fuel tank, a full refill after this adjustment is estimated to save consumers around 7 to 8 yuan.
Looking back at the 16 refined oil price adjustments conducted domestically this year, the trend has been characterized by six increases, six decreases, and four periods of no change. With the current adjustment, the cumulative effect for the year will see the seventh dip in oil prices, further widening the overall price reduction for the year. Based on current refined oil pricing mechanisms, the subsequent price adjustment window is scheduled for midnight on September 9th, 2025.
