On September 11th, according to Kuaikeji, the most striking feature of the iPhone 17 series launch was the introduction of the iPhone Air.
In a media interview, Molly Anderson, Apple’s Vice President of Industrial Design, discussed the design philosophy behind the iPhone Air, revealing it to be the culmination of years of the team’s aspirations. Anderson stated, “Apple’s goal was to create a slim iPhone, a thinness that would shock (the entire industry).”
Regarding his company’s new device, Cook described the iPhone Air as feeling so light in the hand that one might fear it could “blow away with the wind.”
When asked about foldable screen rumors, Cook neither confirmed nor denied them, simply remarking that Apple “is very good at keeping secrets” before steering the conversation back to the day’s new product releases.
This has led to continued speculation that the iPhone Air might be an experimental product paving the way for Apple’s future ultra-thin foldable devices. Industry observers believe that mastering the manufacturing processes for ultra-thin bodies provides a crucial foundation for foldable screen designs. Looking at the iPhone Air, it’s not difficult to infer that the concept of two “Air” devices connected together could represent Apple’s design philosophy for a future foldable iPhone.
