October 19, [Year]. According to domestic media reports, Muxi Integrated Circuit (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. recently officially released its first fully domestically produced general-purpose GPU (GPU) – the Xiyun C600 in Nanjing. This marks a historic breakthrough in the development of domestically produced high-performance GPUs.
The company emphasizes the strategic importance of general-purpose GPU chips, stating, “In a context where computing power has become the ‘hard currency’ of the digital economy, general-purpose GPU chips will be the ultimate competition between nations.”
Sun Guoliang, Senior Vice President of Muxi, explained that Muxi was founded five years ago with a clear focus on overcoming the challenges in the GPU field. The company has been actively working on core computing power technologies from both hardware and software perspectives, aiming to build a secure, reliable, and independently controllable computing infrastructure.
Sun Guoliang further elaborated that this entirely localized chip integrates large-capacity storage with mixed-precision computing capabilities. It also supports MetaXLink ultra-node expansion technology. The chip’s hardware performance and software compatibility are designed to meet the training and inference demands of next-generation generative AI.
Currently, Muxi, in collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has completed the full-parameter training of several large models using a domestically produced thousand-card cluster. This achievement demonstrates that domestic computing power is already capable of large-scale model pre-training.
“The Nanjing company is Muxi’s first wholly-owned subsidiary and is responsible for the research and development of its entire series of chips,” said Wang Shuang, head of Muxi (Nanjing).
Muxi is described as a high-tech company dedicated to developing and selling general-purpose GPU chips and solutions with fully independent intellectual property rights, targeting various applications such as heterogeneous computing.
Muxi has recently completed its responses to two rounds of inquiries before listing and is now entering the final stages of its Initial Public Offering (IPO).
Public information indicates that the Xiyun C600 is based on Muxi’s proprietary core GPU IP. It has achieved a closed-loop domestic supply chain covering the entire process from chip design, manufacturing, to packaging and testing. With its large memory capacity and mixed-precision computing, it is positioned to provide secure and controllable computing support for the digital economy.
The Xiyun C600 is a general-purpose GPU chip developed using advanced domestic processes, establishing a comprehensive domestic supply chain from design to manufacturing and testing.
The development project for the Xiyun C600 was initiated in February 2024. The chip was received and successfully powered on in July 2025, and is currently undergoing functional testing. Risk production is anticipated by the end of 2025.
The company is also currently developing its next-generation flagship product, the C700. This upcoming chip aims for significant improvements in computing power, storage capacity, communication capabilities, and energy efficiency, with the goal of approaching the performance level of NVIDIA’s flagship H100 series.
