October 28th, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, the “China-Thailand, One Family” Friendship Convoy, organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, has successfully concluded its journey from Bangkok and arrived at its final destination – the Bird’s Nest in Beijing.
This goodwill tour, spanning three countries – China, Thailand, and Laos – over fifteen days and covering a distance of more than 5,000 kilometers, was entirely supported by a fleet of BYD Song PLUS DM-i vehicles. The expedition highlights not only the enduring friendship between the two nations but also showcases the robust performance and reliability of Chinese-manufactured automobiles on an international stage.
The convoy commenced its journey on October 10th from the Bangkok City Hall Plaza. It traversed various provinces in Thailand, including Phitsanulok and Phayao, before crossing the border into Laos via the Chong Mek checkpoint. From Laos, the convoy entered China through the Mohan port, subsequently journeying through numerous Chinese provinces and municipalities such as Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Henan, Shanxi, and Hebei. The impressive 5,000-kilometer odyssey culminated in Beijing on October 24th, symbolizing a shared journey of cooperation and mutual understanding.
Significantly, all vehicles used in this event – the Song PLUS DM-i – were manufactured and delivered from BYD’s Rayong factory in Thailand. This underscores BYD’s commitment to local production and its role in strengthening economic ties between China and Thailand. The fact that these vehicles, assembled in Thailand, successfully completed such an arduous international journey speaks volumes about their quality and technological advancement.
The Song PLUS DM-i is equipped with BYD’s DM-i super hybrid technology, a system renowned for its exceptional fuel efficiency and performance capabilities. This technology has already propelled the model to claim the number one position in registered vehicles within the PHEV segment in Thailand. The powertrain’s ability to deliver both strong performance and remarkable economy was crucial in ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted progress of the convoy across diverse terrains and long distances.
The outstanding long-range capacity and driving reliability of the Song PLUS DM-i proved to be indispensable, providing a solid foundation for this extensive and challenging goodwill tour. The successful completion of this 5,000-kilometer expedition serves as a testament to the advanced engineering and manufacturing prowess of BYD, further solidifying its reputation as a leading automotive manufacturer in the global market, particularly in emerging economies.
