On October 31st, according to reports, a Douyin blogger known as “Sanya Qianfei Travel” posted a video claiming to have acquired the damaged Rolls-Royce Spectre involved in an accident with Chen Zhen.
Following the purchase of the damaged Spectre, this car rental company has been conducting live streams for three consecutive days, starting from October 28th. Each live stream, lasting approximately one hour, is themed “In Spectacle of Chen Zhen’s Rolls-Royce.”
By the afternoon of October 30th, the live stream had garnered over 2,100 concurrent viewers, all expressing significant curiosity about the vehicle’s future.
Staff from Sanya Qianfei Travel, a car rental business, responded to media inquiries, confirming the purchase of Chen Zhen’s accident-involved Rolls-Royce Spectre and candidly admitting that the acquisition was driven by a pursuit of popularity and attention.
In the afternoon of October 30th, a netizen privately messaged Chen Zhen to inquire if the car featured in the live stream was indeed his. Chen Zhen confirmed that it was, but no longer is, his vehicle.
The blogger who acquired the car previously detailed that it was involved in an accident, though not classified as a major one. The vehicle’s chassis and wheels reportedly remain undamaged. Furthermore, the car doors can still be opened even with the power systems disabled. The purchase price was reported to be between 2 million and 3 million RMB. This indicates that even a damaged luxury vehicle commands a significant price, reflecting its residual value and the potential for high-profile resale or specialized repair.
Due to the necessity of official authorization for the repair of the Rolls-Royce Spectre’s three-electric system, repairs can only be undertaken at a Rolls-Royce 4S dealership. The preliminary estimated repair cost for the entire vehicle is over 700,000 RMB. Following repairs, the car is intended for rental services. The high repair cost underscores the complexity and specialized nature of maintaining ultra-luxury electric vehicles, a factor contributing to their overall ownership expense.
The Rolls-Royce Spectre is its inaugural pure electric ultra-luxury coupe, with an official guide price of 5.75 million RMB. The pre-owned market price typically starts from around 4 million RMB. This significant depreciation, even for a damaged vehicle, is a common characteristic of ultra-luxury cars, though the price paid by the rental company appears to align with such market trends for a vehicle with significant history.
Regarding Chen Zhen’s decision to sell the damaged vehicle, sources close to the matter indicated that the purchasing dealership’s offer exceeded the prevailing market price. This suggests a calculated business decision by the buyer, leveraging the car’s notoriety for potential profit.

Following the accident, Chen Zhen had responded to netizens, stating that he would “most likely not purchase a Rolls-Royce again in the future.” He further elaborated on his reasoning:
“In an era where Chinese brands are rigorously testing AEB systems to effectively avoid pedestrian and non-motorized vehicle collisions, I, driving the world’s most expensive and luxurious electric vehicle, still managed a direct head-on collision with the vehicle in front while under assisted driving conditions.”
“The accident responsibility is undeniably mine, but through this incident, I have gained a new understanding of ‘luxury.’ Safety, truly, is the greatest luxury!” This reflection highlights a shift in perspective, moving beyond material opulence to prioritize fundamental safety, a sentiment that resonates with a broader audience concerned with vehicular safety, especially in advanced driver-assistance systems.
