On November 4th, a new chapter in off-road-capable new energy vehicles has begun with the launch of the four-wheel-drive version of Chery Jetour’s rugged SUV, the Shanhai T1. This latest iteration offers consumers two distinct trims: the Exploration and Discovery editions. The official guiding price ranges from 157,900 to 167,900 Yuan, with an attractive trade-in incentive bringing the price down to 149,900 to 159,900 Yuan.
The Shanhai T1 four-wheel-drive maintains the striking, boxy design language that has become a popular trend in the automotive market. This aesthetic is further enhanced by a palette of sophisticated color options, including Midnight Black, Verdant Green, Snow Mountain Silver, Glacier White, and Loess Gold, allowing owners to personalize their vehicle.
In terms of its robust dimensions, the vehicle measures 4706mm in length, 1967mm in width, and 1845mm in height, with a substantial wheelbase of 2810mm. Its commendable 200mm ground clearance, coupled with an approach angle of 28° and a departure angle of 29°, signifies its readiness for challenging terrains. Furthermore, its impressive 600mm water-wading capability adds another layer to its off-road prowess.
The Shanhai T1 is engineered with a safety-first approach, featuring a cage-type body structure constructed with over 80% high-strength steel. The roof boasts a load-bearing capacity of 300kg, highlighting its structural integrity. Standard on the four-wheel-drive models is an electronically controlled mechanical locking differential on the rear axle, enabling 100% torque lock and a remarkable climbing gradient of up to 100% (equivalent to 45 degrees).
Drivers can adapt to a variety of driving conditions with the vehicle’s selectable drive modes. The integrated “One-Key X Mode” intelligently analyzes the terrain and automatically adjusts the drivetrain within a rapid 0.15 seconds, ensuring optimal performance and stability.
Under the hood, the Shanhai T1 is powered by an advanced plug-in hybrid system. This setup comprises Chery’s Kunpeng 1.5TD hybrid-specific engine and a sophisticated three-motor configuration (P1 for power generation, P3 for front-wheel drive, and P4 for rear-wheel drive). This synergy results in an impressive combined power output of 435kW and a formidable peak torque of 840N·m. The effective wheel-end torque reaches 7400N·m, facilitating a brisk acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 5.5 seconds.
The vehicle is equipped with a 27.2kWh battery from industry leader CATL, providing a CLTC pure electric range of 147km. Even in its hybrid mode, the Shanhai T1 exhibits admirable fuel efficiency, with a WLTC combined fuel consumption of 6.69L per 100km when the battery is depleted. Its utility is further amplified by its robust external power supply capabilities, offering both 2.2kW and 6.6kW discharge functions.
