Niu Technologies has recently unveiled two new National Standard flagship electric scooters, the NXT Ultra 2025 and the FXT Ultra 2025. The FXT Ultra 2025 is priced at 11,999 yuan, mirroring the cost of the previously introduced NXT Ultra 2025. Niu is also offering several stripped-down versions of the FXT model.
In contrast to the NXT, which measures 1790mm in length, 750mm in width, and 1100mm in height with a 410mm wide footboard, the FXT features a more compact profile. Its dimensions are 1742mm in length, 730mm in width, and 1093mm in height, with a narrower 380mm footboard. The FXT’s design language is characterized by sharp, angular lines, evoking a “mecha” aesthetic. It also incorporates “eagle eye” headlights, similar to those found on electric motorcycles, and is available in five color options. This design choice likely appeals to a younger demographic seeking a more aggressive and sporty appearance in their electric scooters.
The scooter is equipped with a 5-inch LED smart dashboard displaying essential vehicle data, enhancing user convenience. Multiple keyless unlocking methods are also supported, further streamlining the riding experience. The integration of a smart dashboard and advanced unlocking systems signifies Niu’s commitment to modernizing the user interface and overall ease of use for their electric scooters.
For enhanced riding comfort, the FXT Ultra 2025 features 31-core front shock absorbers and 5-level manually adjustable rear shock absorbers designed to effectively absorb road imperfections, reducing rider fatigue during longer journeys. The wider 110mm rear tire contributes to better cornering stability, providing a more confident feel when navigating turns. These suspension and tire specifications suggest a focus on both comfort and sporty handling, catering to a broad range of riding preferences.
In terms of braking, the scooter is equipped with front and rear disc brakes, complemented by a dual-channel ABS and TCS (Traction Control System). These advanced safety features are crucial for preventing skids on wet or slippery surfaces and during emergency braking maneuvers. The inclusion of millimeter-wave radar and tire pressure monitoring further bolsters the scooter’s active and passive safety capabilities, offering riders an added layer of security and peace of mind. The integration of these advanced electronic aids is a significant differentiator, positioning the FXT Ultra 2025 as a leader in its class for safety.
The powertrain consists of a 400W motor paired with a 48V 30Ah lithium battery from Xin Neng An. The battery is notably offered on a “buy one get one free” basis, and the stated range is 105km, with good performance in low-temperature conditions. This battery configuration and range suggest suitability for urban commuting and moderate-distance travel, while the low-temperature performance is a practical consideration for riders in colder climates.
The FXT Ultra 2025 also boasts a comprehensive suite of intelligent riding assistance functions. These include cruise control, hill-hold parking, push assistance, reverse gear, and a side-stand sensor for parking engagement. These features collectively aim to enhance the overall riding experience, making it more convenient and user-friendly, especially in various parking and low-speed scenarios. The inclusion of these advanced assists positions the FXT as a technologically sophisticated option in the electric scooter market.
Beyond the flagship Ultra variant, Niu is also offering several more accessible versions of the FXT, namely the FXT Citi ABS, FXT Citi (LI), FXT Sport ABS, and FXT Sport. These models range in price from 4,899 to 7,299 yuan, providing a wider spectrum of options to cater to different budgets and feature preferences. The availability of these varied trim levels demonstrates Niu’s strategy to capture a broader market share by offering a scalable product lineup.
