On July 27th, Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing attended the Shanghai Postal Museum to celebrate Leica’s centenary. During the event, Lu Weibing presented a special gift to his long-time friend, Mr. Kaufmann, Chairman of Leica’s Supervisory Board: the Xiaomi 15 Ultra Centennial Global Limited Edition Commemorative Box.
In return, Dr. Kaufmann presented Lu Weibing with the next flagship imaging device from the collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica. Lu Weibing expressed his delight, calling it “the best gift from Dr. Kaufmann of Leica.”
Based on Lu Weibing’s Weibo posts, this “gift” is understood to be the Xiaomi 16 Ultra, which he stated will set a new benchmark for mobile imaging and urged everyone to anticipate its arrival.
According to leaks from tech bloggers, the Xiaomi 16 Ultra is expected to launch by the end of this year. This device is anticipated to be a flagship imaging product born from the deep collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica.
Earlier this year, Xiaomi released its ultra-premium model, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. This device features a 200-megapixel sensor with a large 1/1.4-inch base, along with Xiaomi’s largest light aperture to date, ensuring clear and striking images even in distant or low-light conditions, earning it the nickname “Night God”.
The imaging capabilities of the Xiaomi 16 Ultra are expected to build upon this foundation, promising further innovations and making it a highly anticipated release.
