According to a report from Kuaitech on August 6th, SAIC IM Motors has officially announced that the all-new LS6 will commence pre-sale on the 15th of this month. Recently, a set of interior spy photos of the new car has been leaked online, offering an early look.
Based on the spy shots, the new car will adopt a completely new design language, marking a significant departure from the current model. Consequently, some of these changes are quite noteworthy and might require some adjustment from the user’s perspective.
The spy photos reveal a more three-dimensional and personalized central console design. On the driver’s side, there’s a floating dual-screen setup. The passenger side features a wraparound design with a separate large screen. While innovative, the overall styling does present a unique aesthetic that may take some getting used to.
The new car continues to utilize IM Motors’ signature semi-yoke multifunctional steering wheel, although a conventional option will be available. The primary advantage of the semi-yoke is undoubtedly enhanced forward visibility for the driver. However, the potential drawbacks are likely apparent at first glance.
In front of the gear shift console, it appears some physical buttons have been retained. Additionally, the design incorporates dual wireless charging pads and dual cup holders, with a hollowed-out area underneath to provide expanded storage space. This thoughtful integration of practical storage solutions enhances the overall usability of the cabin.
Furthermore, the new car is equipped with a column-mounted electronic gear shifter, a car refrigerator/heater, ambient lighting, and rear seat heating with backrest angle adjustment, showcasing a focus on passenger comfort and convenience features.
Regarding the exterior, official images indicate that the new car largely retains the design style of the current model but with optimized upgrades. For instance, it features newly designed T-shaped headlights. The relocation of the brand logo from the front bumper to the hood also adds a refreshed element to the vehicle’s appearance.

In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 4937mm in length, 1988mm in width, and 1673mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2960mm, positioning it as a large five-seater SUV. This size class signifies its ambition to compete in the premium segment of family-oriented SUVs.
The powertrain system is undoubtedly the most significant update for the new car. In addition to a pure electric variant, the new model will debut with IM Motors’ “Super Range Extended Hybrid” system. This innovation addresses the growing demand for vehicles that offer extended range and flexibility.
The core of this new system is a substantial 66kWh battery, providing a CLTC pure electric range exceeding 450 kilometers. When combined with a full tank of fuel, the total range is projected to surpass 1500 kilometers. Notably, even at a low battery charge of 16%, the system can still output a remarkable 275.5kW of power, effectively resolving the common issue of reduced performance in traditional range-extended hybrids at lower battery levels, often referred to as the “weak chicken” problem.
