On August 9th, a video circulated online showing two young men dangerously speeding on motorcycles along the Chengnan Expressway in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, sparking public concern and discussion.
The reckless behavior of these motorcyclists has drawn widespread condemnation from netizens. This sentiment is particularly amplified by the fact that several motorcycle influencers have tragically lost their lives in recent years due to speeding and other traffic violations.
Among these unfortunate incidents, the passing of Qi Shuoran, a female motorcycle influencer known for her striking appearance within the Harley “Changchun Formation,” was a particularly poignant loss. Her teammates referred to her as the most beautiful rider, and she died in an accident at the young age of 35. Prior to this, other prominent figures in the motorcycle community, including “Crazy Brother,” Zhou Junhao, stunt rider Zhou Wei (also known as “Brother Tail”), “San Maozi,” and rider “Brother Tou,” also met untimely deaths due to similar circumstances.
The recurrence of these tragic accidents has led to frequent and heated debates among netizens. Given the demonstrable dangers associated with motorcycles, the persistent calls for lifting motorcycle bans (禁摩 – jìn mó) in some areas are perplexing to many observers.
