As smart cars continue to gain widespread adoption, the Xiaomi SU7 introduces a highly practical feature: standard ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) functionality.
This feature was recently highlighted by a blogger, who noted that it can be activated for a nominal fee of 50 yuan, effectively eliminating the cumbersome traditional application process for ETC services.
Xiaomi’s founder, Lei Jun, has also shared this information, encouraging wider publicity for the feature.
Historically, obtaining ETC often required submitting multiple identification documents, potentially incurred hidden costs such as equipment fees and annual charges, and involved adhesive devices that were difficult to remove when transferring to a new vehicle.
The integrated ETC system in the Xiaomi SU7 directly addresses these inconveniences.
Vehicle owners can easily initiate the process by navigating to the “Settings” button on the central control screen, selecting “Services,” and then “Apply for ETC Service,” which will display a QR code.
Scanning this QR code with WeChat or Alipay leads to a mini-program. Upon entering, a Bluetooth connection prompt for the ETC device will appear. Following the mini-program’s guided instructions, users upload their identification and vehicle registration documents. Once approved, the ETC service becomes active.
This standard ETC feature within the Xiaomi SU7 represents another innovative step by Xiaomi in the automotive sector, directly catering to consumers’ demand for seamless and convenient travel experiences. The simplification of the application process, coupled with the elimination of many traditional associated costs, positions the SU7 as a user-friendly option in the burgeoning smart car market.
