Apple has officially announced its 2025 Fall product event, scheduled to take place on September 9th at 10 AM local time, which translates to September 10th at 1 AM Beijing time. The invitation design maintains Apple’s signature minimalist aesthetic, yet subtly hints at the event’s theme, “Ignite the Future,” with the Apple logo rendered in a liquid glass effect.
This upcoming event is widely anticipated to unveil a range of significant product updates, including the iPhone 17 series, the Apple Watch Series 11, the Apple Watch Ultra 3, and the AirPods Pro 3.
The iPhone 17 series is expected to be the central highlight of the event. This year’s lineup is rumored to feature four models: the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The traditional “Plus” model is reportedly being replaced by the new, ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air. Furthermore, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are anticipated to showcase a redesigned rear camera module.
Analytically, the introduction of an “Air” model suggests Apple’s continued strategy to diversify its iPhone portfolio, catering to a broader range of consumer preferences and price points. The focus on an ultra-thin design for the 17 Air could also signal Apple’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of hardware engineering and user experience.

Across all iPhone 17 models, a significant camera upgrade is expected, with all devices featuring an enhanced 24-megapixel front-facing camera. This upgrade includes a transition from a five-element to a six-element lens system, promising improved image quality. All models are also slated to incorporate graphite thermal sheets for better heat dissipation, a crucial component for sustained performance. Additionally, a boost in wireless charging capabilities is anticipated, with support for up to 25W wireless charging and compatibility with the next-generation Qi 2.2 wireless charging standard.
The most significant proposed upgrade for the iPhone 17 series is the integration of ProMotion technology across all models. This would mean standard iPhone 17 variants will also benefit from a 120Hz refresh rate, a feature previously reserved for Pro models. This move would represent a substantial leap in display fluidity and responsiveness, potentially setting a new benchmark for mainstream smartphone displays.

Regarding the individual models, the iPhone 17 Air is described as a new, ultra-thin device, measuring a mere 5.5mm in thickness, potentially making it the slimmest iPhone ever produced by Apple. It is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display, a single 48-megapixel rear camera, the A19 chip, and a titanium unibody construction, paired with 12GB of RAM.
The standard iPhone 17 is projected to have a 6.27-inch display, matching the screen size of the current iPhone 16 Pro. It will likely retain a dual-camera system (main and ultra-wide) on the rear, with a design similar to the iPhone 16. This model will be constructed from aluminum and powered by the A19 chip, equipped with 8GB of RAM.

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to boast a new rear camera design, featuring a revamped 48-megapixel telephoto lens, bringing all three rear cameras to a 48-megapixel resolution. These models will employ a premium aluminum and glass sandwich design for the back panel. A significant internal advancement will be the integration of Apple’s custom Wi-Fi 7 chip, alongside the A19 Pro chip. Both Pro models will be equipped with 12GB of RAM. Further enhancements may include a new scratch-resistant and anti-reflective display coating. Additionally, the Pro models are being tested for simultaneous front and rear camera video recording capabilities, as well as 8K video recording.

Following Apple’s typical release cycle, the iPhone 17 series is anticipated to go on pre-order on the Friday following the event, likely September 12th, with official sales commencing on Friday, September 19th. Major markets, including the United States, China, Europe, and Japan, are expected to have simultaneous availability.
