We bring you a piece of news that underscores the importance of responsible road behavior.
According to a recent case disclosed by the “Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security,” an incident occurred on June 21st this year in Baiyin, Gansu Province.
A 15-year-old named Xiao Wei was riding an electric motorcycle with a friend, also 15, when they approached an intersection. Disregarding the red traffic signal, Xiao Wei directly proceeded through the intersection, resulting in a collision with a small car that had just started moving on a green light.
Xiao Wei and his friend were thrown from the vehicle, falling to the ground along with the motorcycle. Fortunately, they sustained only minor injuries and no severe harm.
The traffic police investigation determined that Xiao Wei was operating the motorcycle without a license, was carrying a passenger illegally, was riding against traffic, and ran a red light, all of which contributed to the accident. Consequently, Xiao Wei was assigned full responsibility for the incident.
The traffic police issued a reminder that with the new school term approaching, many students will be commuting by bicycle or electric vehicles. It is crucial to adhere to the age regulations for riding these vehicles:
Individuals must be at least 12 years old to ride a bicycle on public roads, at least 16 years old to ride an electric bicycle, and under 18 years old are prohibited from riding motorcycles.
We urge parents to diligently supervise and educate their children, and to ensure that vehicle keys are kept secure, preventing underage individuals from operating vehicles on public roads.
