Xiaomi Group employee Sun Cun recently interacted with netizens, indicating that the REDMI K90 series will not be launched very soon. The series is still in the development phase, and its market launch is still some time away. In the meantime, consumers can look forward to the release of Xiaomi’s numbered series. She also reassured everyone that the design aesthetics of the REDMI K90 series can be put at ease.
Based on previous leaks, the REDMI K90 series will be equipped with 2K straight displays across all models. They will all feature flagship-grade luminescent materials and support 3D ultrasonic fingerprint technology under the display. Furthermore, all models in the series will utilize LTPS screen technology, which is known for its energy efficiency and fast response times, contributing to a smoother user experience and potentially longer battery life.
In terms of processing power, the standard REDMI K90 is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the K90 Pro will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The latter is Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship platform, indicating a significant performance upgrade for the Pro model. The use of these high-end processors suggests that both devices will offer exceptional performance for demanding applications and gaming.
It is understood that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will incorporate Qualcomm’s self-developed Oryon CPU architecture. It is expected to continue the design of the previous generation with two ultra-large cores and six large cores. Manufactured using TSMC’s third-generation 3nm process technology (N3P), the platform is anticipated to achieve Antutu benchmark scores exceeding 4 million points. This cutting-edge manufacturing process and advanced architecture promise industry-leading performance and power efficiency.
The REDMI K90 series is slated for a potential unveiling as early as October, positioning it as REDMI’s most powerful high-end flagship. The prolonged development cycle, while potentially frustrating for eager consumers, does suggest a commitment to refining the product and ensuring a polished user experience, especially considering the advanced specifications rumored.
