September 27th, a report from blogger Digital Chat Station indicates that the Huawei Mate 80 series will feature a variable aperture, a technology that other domestic brands have seemingly abandoned for the time being.
Currently, selected models within Huawei’s Mate, Pura, and nova series already support variable aperture capabilities, allowing users to manually adjust the amount of light entering the camera. For instance, the Huawei nova 13 Pro can effortlessly switch its aperture between f/1.4 and f/4.0, catering to a wide range of shooting scenarios.
In low-light conditions, the main camera can intelligently adjust to the widest aperture of f/1.4, thereby increasing light intake to reveal details in dark areas and preserve distinct outlines and bokeh in night scenes. When capturing fast-moving subjects like pets, it intelligently switches to f/2.0, ensuring precise light control for effortlessly capturing fleeting moments. For group photos with three or more people, the main camera automatically adjusts to f/4.0, expanding the depth of field so that both near and far subjects remain in sharp focus.
Furthermore, the Mate 80 series is expected to debut the brand-new Kirin 9030 chip (following the Kirin 9020 introduced with the previous Mate 70 series). This new chip will feature architectural optimizations for a significant performance leap. It will also come pre-installed with the latest HarmonyOS 6, promising further enhancements in performance and system fluidity.
The device is anticipated to be launched around November.
