On October 7th, according to a report from Kuaitech, yesterday, the BYD “Jinan Hao,” a vessel carrying over 6,000 domestically produced new energy vehicles, commenced its maiden voyage, bound for Singapore.
The BYD “Jinan Hao” measures 219.9 meters in length and boasts a capacity of 9,200 standard vehicle parking spaces. This new addition signifies a significant enhancement in BYD’s logistical capabilities for its burgeoning electric vehicle exports.
The vessel is equipped with BYD’s independently developed containerized battery pack cabinets, which, in conjunction with its LNG dual-fuel clean propulsion technology, create a “dual green drive.” This innovative approach underscores BYD’s commitment to sustainable shipping practices, aligning its logistics with its eco-friendly vehicle manufacturing.
With the “Jinan Hao” now operational, BYD has successfully deployed all eight of its initially constructed car carriers. This brings the company’s total vehicle carrying capacity to 67,000 units, with an annual shipping capability exceeding one million vehicles. This expansion is a crucial step in BYD’s strategy to meet the growing global demand for its new energy vehicles and to solidify its position as a leading exporter in the automotive industry.
Furthermore, this marks the seventh major vessel from BYD to dock at Shenzhen’s Xiaomo Port, following in the wake of “Explorer 1,” “Shenzhen Hao,” “Zhengzhou Hao,” “Hefei Hao,” “Xi’an Hao,” and “Changsha Hao.” The consistent utilization of Shenzhen’s port facilities highlights its strategic importance in BYD’s global supply chain and its commitment to leveraging major Chinese maritime hubs for its international operations.
