As reported by Kuai Technology on October 28th, Jensen Huang, the founder and CEO of NVIDIA, has emerged as a pivotal figure in the AI industry, drawing significant attention wherever he goes. His upcoming visit to South Korea on October 30th marks his first trip to the country in 15 years.
Huang is scheduled to attend the APEC CEO Summit on October 30th. On the same day, he will be in Seoul to celebrate the 25th anniversary of GeForce graphics cards’ launch in South Korea. Following this, he is expected to hold private meetings with key figures, including Samsung’s de facto leader Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group’s Executive Vice Chairman Chung Euisun.
While the specific agendas for these tripartite meetings remain undisclosed, Artificial Intelligence is anticipated to be a central theme. Discussions with Samsung’s Lee Jae-yong are likely to revolve around the supply of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). Samsung is reportedly eager to integrate into NVIDIA’s AI GPU supply chain, especially as HBM3e prices have recently seen a reported 30% decrease. Furthermore, Samsung is aggressively positioning itself for the HBM4 market, leveraging its advanced 1c process technology to gain a competitive edge.
Samsung has also recently established collaborations with companies like OpenAI and NVIDIA, committing to providing up to 900,000 memory wafers for the “Stargate” project, underscoring its ambitious plans in the memory sector.
The meeting with Hyundai Motor Group is expected to focus on intelligent vehicles. The two companies are existing strategic partners, with Hyundai already utilizing NVIDIA’s AI hardware and tools for the development of autonomous vehicles and robots. There are unconfirmed reports suggesting a potential alliance for humanoid robotics among Samsung, Hyundai, and NVIDIA.
Following these engagements, Huang will have a separate meeting with senior executives from SK hynix on October 31st. This meeting highlights SK hynix’s crucial role in NVIDIA’s ecosystem, as the company remains a primary supplier of HBM memory and a significant provider of memory chips for the “Stargate” project.
On the same day, October 31st, Huang is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech, where he will unveil his vision for next-generation technologies encompassing artificial intelligence, robotics, and autonomous driving.
Huang’s last visit to South Korea was in 2010, when he attended the global launch event for StarCraft II.
