According to a July 3rd report by Kuaitech, citing prominent leaker Majin Bu, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to feature a lower placement of the Apple logo. This design shift will necessitate adjustments from case manufacturers, particularly concerning the positioning of MagSafe magnets.
Industry insiders have indicated that the migration of the Apple logo towards the bottom of the iPhone 17 Pro will also cause the magnet array for MagSafe to shift towards the center bottom. Without recalibration, this could lead to the MagSafe magnets overlapping with the Apple logo, potentially creating an unappealing visual effect.
This alteration is primarily aimed at enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the device. However, for accessory manufacturers, repositioning the magnets requires recalibrating the magnetic field to prevent subtle interference and ensure optimal performance of the MagSafe system. This could involve minor engineering changes to maintain the strong magnetic connection users expect.
Manufacturers have noted that early production MagSafe accessories should still remain compatible with the iPhone 17 Pro. Furthermore, the inclusion of a cutout for the MagSafe magnets at the bottom could potentially amplify the visual impact of the Apple logo, particularly when viewed through transparent phone cases. This might become a subtle design element that enhances the premium feel of the iPhone.
It’s noteworthy that both third-party accessory makers and Apple itself are reportedly working on similar MagSafe magnetic rings with notches. These are being developed to accommodate the new aesthetic layout of the iPhone 17 Pro, aligning with the adjusted placement of the Apple logo.
