**REDMI Pad 2 Officially Announced, Targeting the Affordable Tablet Market with Educational Focus**
REDMI has officially announced the upcoming release of its latest tablet, the REDMI Pad 2, which is set to go on sale on August 1st through Xiaomi Mall and various e-commerce platforms. Positioned as an affordable, large-screen tablet, it appears to be designed for home use, catering to both elderly users seeking an accessible device for media consumption and children engaged in educational activities.

A notable incentive for early adopters, the REDMI Pad 2 will be available in a bundle that includes a three-year membership to REDMI’s Education Center. Revealed by Wang Teng, General Manager of the REDMI brand, this membership grants access to a comprehensive library of learning resources. These resources are designed to cover educational content from primary school through high school, reportedly achieving a remarkable 98% coverage rate of textbook materials.
The REDMI Education Center is an integrated learning application within REDMI devices, featuring an extensive collection of educational materials from reputable institutions and offering AI-powered homework assistance. Specifically, it boasts over 150,000 synchronized school courses across nine major subjects, aiming to help students master difficult concepts. The platform also provides access to a vast question bank for students at all levels of primary, junior, and senior high school. The AI homework support is further enhanced by a matching system that references over 30,000 unit knowledge graphs, promising a more efficient learning experience.
Furthermore, the REDMI Pad 2 incorporates remote parental control features. This allows parents to easily view usage reports and set time limits for specific applications, providing peace of mind and enabling better management of children’s tablet usage. This feature underscores the tablet’s appeal as a family-friendly device.
In terms of hardware, the REDMI Pad 2 is equipped with a 2.5K eye-protection display, boasting 21 different eye-protection capabilities designed to minimize strain during extended use. Powering the device is a substantial 9000mAh battery, suggesting good endurance for prolonged usage, which is crucial for both educational sessions and entertainment.

The tablet will be available in three color options: grey, purple, and cyan. Consumers will have a choice of three storage configurations: 6GB RAM with 128GB storage, 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage. For context, the first-generation REDMI Pad, launched in 2022, had a starting price of 1299 yuan (for the 4GB+128GB variant), and the REDMI Pad Pro, released in 2024, began at 1499 yuan (for the 6GB+128GB configuration). The pricing and specific features of the REDMI Pad 2 are expected to further solidify its position in the competitive mid-range tablet market, particularly for users prioritizing educational benefits and value.
