This news comes from Kuai Technology on October 4th. Recently, a domestic manufacturer, Fengpo, has released a special edition GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card with a VRAM capacity of 20GB, which is double the typical 10GB offered on the standard model.
It’s worth noting that NVIDIA never officially launched an RTX 3080 with this 20GB configuration, although there were internal considerations for such a variant before these plans were ultimately shelved.
Previously, other companies have modified gaming graphics cards into compute cards with blower-style coolers and expanded memory, but these products were primarily aimed at AI factories or enterprise clients.
The Fengpo RTX 3080 20GB stands out because it features a standard gaming-style cooler. While its packaging mentions AI applications, this particular graphics card is clearly designed for mainstream gamers. Fengpo has even provided retail packaging for it, which is an uncommon practice for modified graphics cards.
Bilibili UP主 (video content creator) “显卡少女楹楹子” (GPU Girl Yingyingzi) has benchmarked this graphics card. In gaming scenarios and within LM Studio, comparisons were made against the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, and the results indicate that the RTX 3080 20GB exhibits superior performance to the RTX 4060 Ti 16GB.
Upon closer inspection, this RTX 3080 20GB graphics card appears to utilize a cooler design similar to the PNY Verto RTX 3090. It features a large, triple-slot heatsink and accommodates 20 GDDR6X memory modules distributed on both sides of the PCB.
Given that the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 share the same GPU die, modifying an existing design is considerably simpler than developing a completely new one from scratch.
Regarding its pricing, this graphics card is available on JD.com for 3298 Yuan.
