On July 21st, during the 17th round of the Chinese Super League, Tianjin Jinmen Tiger defeated Chengdu Rongcheng 2-1. In the 85th minute of the match, Wei Shihao was seen in a verbal altercation with fans in the Tianjin Jinmen Tiger stands. Subsequently, on July 21st, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) announced disciplinary measures, including a public reprimand for the Tianjin competition zone and a one-match ban on spectator access to the stand associated with the fan group involved.
The incident unfolded dramatically as Chengdu Rongcheng’s player, Wei Shihao, wearing number 7, received his second yellow card and was sent off for stepping on the shoulder of Tianjin Jinmen Tiger’s goalkeeper, Yan Bingliang. His first yellow card was issued earlier in the game for engaging in a verbal dispute with spectators. Following this, some home fans reportedly used amplified sound equipment to persistently and loudly direct abusive language towards Wei Shihao and his family. As he left the field, Wei Shihao was visibly emotional, even breaking down in tears while being comforted by his head coach, Seo Jung-won.
On July 21st, the CFA released its decision regarding violations and misconduct in the Tianjin competition zone (host venue for Tianjin Jinmen Tiger Football Club) during the Chinese Super League.
According to the match supervisor’s report, video evidence, and hearings, during pre-match warm-ups and the game itself on July 18th, 2025, in match number 131 of the 17th round of the Chinese Super League held at TEDA Football Stadium between Tianjin Jinmen Tiger Football Club and Chengdu Rongcheng Football Club, a member of the “Hu Yi Supporters’ Group” named Jiang, who was in the South Stand, instigated abusive behavior towards Chengdu Rongcheng club players. This conduct created a negative social impact.
In accordance with Articles 88 and 14 of the Disciplinary and Ethical Code of the Chinese Football Professional League, the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Chinese Football Professional League has made the following decisions:
1. The Tianjin competition zone (host venue for Tianjin Jinmen Tiger Football Club) of the Chinese Super League will receive a public reprimand.
2. The South Stand, specifically sections D110 and odd-numbered seats in D111, which are associated with the “Hu Yi Supporters’ Group” of Tianjin Jinmen Tiger Club’s home stadium, will be subject to a one-match ban on spectator access.
This disciplinary decision takes effect from the date of its announcement.
